Black and White Photograph Train Station or Depot in the New Jersey Area
No Place, No Publisher. Unbound. Black and White Photograph Train Station or Depot in the New Jersey Area. Perhaps circa late 1800s, early 1900s. 8 1/4 by 6 1/4 inch photo mounted on a 12 by 10 inch beige matte board. No indication of where the train station is, with a sign out front being too washed out to read. A Wells Fargo Express sign is visible on the side of the building. This photo depicts four men, two in suits or vests and the other two in less formal attire, standing on the tracks in front of a train station. It is unclear whether the men work at the station or are travelers, although one appears to be carrying a fishing creel on his side. The station has a rather tall roof, very steeply pitched. The photographer's name, A.J. Bloom, with the location of Andover, New Jersey is printed on the bottom right of the matte. The photograph is in GOOD condition; the matte board is in POOR condition. A large 5 by 2 inch piece is torn off from the upper left corner, affecting the very upper left corner of the photo. A one inch piece is missing from the lower center edge. The corners of the matte are rounded, bumped, chipped and worn, especially the upper right. A two inch tear in the matte present at the upper edge, with a few smaller tears present. Some staining, foxing, soiling and general browning to the matte. A few small spots of ink present to the photo, with streaking visible, perhaps from the glue used to mount the photo. Some numbers present on the rear, in pencil. Fair .
