From a 1931 survey. GOOD condition. Horizontal and vertical fold creases present, as issued. Moderate uneven toning and wrinkling, with some creasing. Minor soiling. Heavy toning along the folds. Manchester, NH written in ink twice on the reverse. Good .

No Place, No Publisher. Unbound. Two black and white photos of a fire, possibly in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. Circa late 1800s, early 1900s. Photos measure 6 ¾ by 4 ½ inches mounted on cream colored decorative matte boards measuring 9 by 7 inches. One photo bears a handwritten caption on the reverse indicating an '[illegible] street fire Portsmouth Ci.' This shows several large wood buildings, perhaps apartment houses in smoke, with a large pile of wooden chairs and other items in the fore ground, as well as people grouped around the buildings. With a horse drawn fire carriage at the front right of the photo. The second photo perhaps shows the aftermath, with three brick chimneys standing among smoldering rubble. This is shot from a height somewhat above the scene, with houses seen in the background. Several people can be seen among the rubble. The photos are in GOOD condition, although the mattes are in POOR condition. Minor soiling, foxing, toning and rubbing to the photos. Heavy foxing, spotting and staining to the mattes, with an area of dampstaining along the lower left edges of both. A piece is torn off from the lower right corner of the matte corresponding with the rubble photo. Good .

These remarks include mentioning whether killed or died of disease, desertion, mustered out, etc. GOOD condition. General fading to the cloth, with minor soiling and scuffing. Faint staining to the rear cover. Cloth scuffed and worn along the extremities, with some splitting and fraying. Text block solid, with minor toning to the paper. Sporadic faint dampstaining affecting the upper margin. Front endpaper with a small tear/hole near the upper corner. Good/No Jacket.

Pamphlet. 16 pp. An address by William Haile, then governor of New Hampshire to the New Hampshire Legislature, discussing taxes, appropriation of funds, laws, etc. Of note is his plea for less restrictions on suffrage, citing national concerns over the influx of immigrants to the United States. Haile also addresses slavery in the United States citing encroachments of it at the national level and arguing that all constitutional means must be used to stop it from spreading. The governor cites the lack of redress for enslaved people in the court of law, recently upheld by the United States Supreme Court. With an ownership inscription perhaps reading 'John Bartlett Du (?) ing.' GOOD condition. Square area of browning/offsetting on most of the center front cover. Minor pencil notations to the front page, with minor soiling. Light toning to the paper. Good .
