A flyer for an event hosted by the Cape Cod chapter of NOW (National Organization of Women), featuring members of the human rights group, CoMadres. CoMadres was founded in 1977 by a group of women from El Salvador whose family members were either killed or disappeared in the fighting between left and right wing political factions in the country. Members of the group also faced torture, kidnapping and rape because of their efforts to seek justice and shed light on what was happening in El Salvador. The group won the first Human Rights Award issued by the Robert F. Kennedy Memorial Institute in 1984. GOOD condition. Some wrinkling and creasing to the paper. Minor toning and soiling. Good .

It combined religious teachings and philosophy with progressive perspectives on racism, women's rights, anti-war movements and other subjects. Founded in 1941 as the official magazine of the Methodist Student Movement, it published until 1972. Acclaimed for its avant-garde and editorial vision, the magazine eventually ceased publication under pressure from Methodist Church officials due to its stances on Civil Rights, gender issues and the Vietnam War (see BU's School of Theology website for previous info). This is the second to last issue, focusing on lesbian and feminist subjects. Includes front cover art by Ginger Legato, interior art by Joyce Sills. Printed by an all women's press, the Sojourner Truth Collective. Articles include: what every lesbian should know; Edward the dyke; poetry by Rita Mae Brown; notes of an old gay; bringing up children in the gay community, etc. GOOD condition.
