Among its usual array of fiction and nonfiction, poems and essays, is the first appearance of Bellow's short story "Mosby's Memoirs" (pp. 36-49), which would be published later that same year in Bellow's first short story collection, "Mosby's Memoirs and Other Stories." On the upper right corner of the front wrapper, Andre Francois' color rendering of a flock of birds, Bellow signs boldly in blue ballpoint. Unusual in this form. .

Superb front wrapper art by the Russian-born American illustrator Constantin Alajalov (1900-87), the only artist to paint covers for both "The New Yorker" and "The Saturday Evening Post," best remembered for his famed cubist-style watercolor front covers. Scene here depicts the packed lobby of a theater, the foreground crammed with smiling social elite and overflowing staircase in background trying to squeeze in. An exceptional condition copy with killer graphics. .

Cartoons featured include examples by Garrett Price, George Price, Peter Arno, William Steig and Helen Hokinson. .
