Hard back binding in original half burgundy calf, russet brown cloth covers, raised bands, gilt title lettering and elaborate gilt panel work to the spine, marble paper end papers, all page edges gilt. 4to 10½'' x 9''. Contains [xx] 192; 96 printed pages of text with 74 paper-guarded steel engravings throughout, small illustrations to the preface pages. Sporadic foxing to some plates, one plate with some old staining, front end paper cracked and professionally repaired, corners and spine ends bumped, without any ownership markings.
