Capart, Jean.
Esquisse d'une histoire du droit pénal égyptien (Extraits). (Extrait de la Revue de l'Université de Bruxelles).
Bruxelles, Lefèvre, 1900. 1st Edition. Offprint. ~ [ADDITIONAL ITEMS FROM THIS LIST ARE POST FREE REGARDLESS OF TOTAL AT CHECKOUT] ~. Royal octavo. Pp. 38, (1). Original printed stiff wrappers, bit thumbed. In a very good condition. ~ FIRST EDITION thus. Extrait de la Revue de l'Université de Bruxelles (1899-1900). Jean Capart (1877-1947). One of his very first contributions on Egyptology, apparently his second, written at the age of 22. At the time of publication he was already a Doctor of Laws and was just appointed assistant Conservator in the Egyptian collections at the Musées Royaux. The article was published in February 1900 and is comprising of extracts from his doctoral dissertation which, apparently, was never published. There is a record of only one article that was published earlier, "Notes sur les origines de l'Égypte d'après les fouilles recentes", which appeared in 1899, also in Revue de l'université de Bruxelles. [Provenance:] Presentation copy, signed 1900 and dedicated by the author [to Egyptologist Prof. Baudouin van de Walle (1901-1988)] from whose library this item comes. Very rare. Not in Beinlich-Seeber. WorldCat locates a single copy, that in Bibliothèque de Genève. ~[Librarium of The Hague offers the largest and finest collection of Egyptological offprint monographs in the rare book market. With the acquisition in recent years of multiple Egyptological libraries (those of Prof. Herman te Velde; Prof. Mathieu Heerma van Voss, Prof. Baudouin van de Walle; Prof. Michel Malaise; Prof. Herman De Meulenaere; Egyptologist Jacobus Visser, and former Trustee of the Egypt Exploration Society, Stewart Dale White), we now hold several thousands of rare offprint monographs which were collected over many years by these scholars. Very limited in number when originally issued and fragile by nature, most are by now practically extinct and the scarce survivors are much sought after. We took upon ourselves to collate, catalogue, and identify each item in accordance with Beinlich-Seeber or Annual Egyptological Bibliography, in the hope that this collection will prove useful for scholars and collectors alike. Capart, Jean.
Retour d'Amérique. (Bulletin du Cercle des Alumni de la Fondation Universitaire).
Bruxelles, Fondation Universitaire de Belgique, 1931. 1st Edition. Offprint. ~ [ADDITIONAL ITEMS FROM THIS LIST ARE POST FREE REGARDLESS OF TOTAL AT CHECKOUT] ~. Crown quarto. Pp. 6. Original printed wrappers. In near fine condition. ~ FIRST EDITION thus. First printed in Bulletin du Cercle des Alumni de la Fondation Universitaire, 1931. Jean Capart (1877-1947). Presented to the Fondation Universitaire upon returning from a stay in the U.S.A. Capart's Memorandum "Reglement des dettes entre la Belgique et l'Amérique, Accord du 18 août 1925" was pompiled on November 20, 1925. It examines some of the points in the Dawes Plan with extraordinary detail. Shading a light on a practically unknown activity of the "Father of Belgian Egyptology" this document is of great interest to the study of the economic history of Belgium and the history of foreign relations of the United States, as well as a milestone in the extraordinary career of Capart. Of utmost rarity. No other copy could be located in any database or bibliography. Not in WorldCat OCLC nor in KVK. Not in Beinlich-Seeber. ~[Librarium of The Hague offers the largest and finest collection of Egyptological offprint monographs in the rare book market.
