Central Banking Legislation. A Collection of Central Bank, Monetary and Banking Laws. Statutes and Related Material Selected and Annotated By Hans Aufricht
U S A, International Monetary Fund, 1962. 2nd Printing, Binding: Cloth, Very Good/Fair. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" Tall Octavo Hardback Hardback. Central Banking Legislation. Slight foxing to edge. ASlightly rolled spine. Wear and tear to D/J. Any person who has had occasion to use Central Bank or Monetary Laws has undoubtedly experienced difficulties in obtaining versions of those laws that are both comprehensive and up to date. Where they are officially published in a language other than English, there may also arise for many people the additional problems of finding adequare translations. The present volume attempts to meet these difficulties. It presents, in English, the complete texts of Central Banking and Monetary Laws of twenty-one countries; in addition it gives summaries of general banking laws and selected provisions of these laws which are of special significance in the relationship of the Central Bank to the banking sector. The laws of these twenty-one countries constitute a representative cross section of both the traditional and the most recent attitudes on the legal techniques employed for the purpose of regulating money and credit. These legal techniques are of interest not only to lawyers and economists in general, but also to all persons currently engaged in the administration of individual central banking organizations; to the historian of central banking, who will find here significant material; to the general student of central banking; and to legislators and technicians charged with the revision of existing central bank regimes or with the task of setting up central institutions where none existed heretofore. 1012 pp.

The Elements of Reinforced Concrete Design
London England, Concrete Publications Ltd, 1950. 3rd Edition, Binding: Cloth, Good/No Jacket. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall Hadrback Hardback. Underlining in pen and pencil and notes to some pages. Wear to edges and corners of cloth. Small closed tear to top edge of spine of cloth. Slight marks to cloth. Blue cloth with gilt lettering. Preface to Third Edition - Since the second edition of this book was published higher concrete stresses have been widely adopted. Those in current use for highway bridge design are given in Memorandum No. 577 of the Ministry of Transport (Memorandum on Bridge Design and Construction), published by His Majesty's Stationery Office, and are broadly in line with the recommendations of the Code of Practice for the Use of Reinforced Concrete in Buildings issued by the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research in 1934. It has not been though necessary to re-write the book to conform to the new stresses; method of design is independent of arithmetic, and as the methods remain unchanged the student will find no difficulty in working out the examples to other stresses. A small addition has been made to the section dealing with reinforcement to bring this up to date. In view of the progress which has been made in prestressed concrete the student should now now be left without some knowledge of the underlying principles, and a short chapter has been added to supply this want. 151 pp. (.

Teaching Humanities in the Microelectronic Age
Great Britain, Open University Press, 1983. 1st Paperback Edition, Binding: Softcover, Good. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall 0335101968 Softcover The authors reflect upon the increased availability of microcumpters in schools and show how they can be at least as valuable for teaching and learning in the humanities as they are on mathematics and science. The book is essentially non-technical. It does not set out to teach how to program but rather how to judge the quality of programs from an educational point of view. Above all, the book is practical and suggests a range of ways in which microtechnology can be harnessed to the purpose of the humanities teacher. Very slight foxing to end of some pages.
