Charles Knight & Co. 1837, 1st Edition. Hardcover, 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Book, No chipping & no splitting to clean boards. A couple of small frays at head of spine & some lightening to spine. Internally very clean. Pencil name to head of titlepage. Tight textblock. Endpapers original & unsplit. No loose & no missing leaves. A nice copy of a uncommon year. Very good.

Figures Des Saints Moines et Ermites
Lyon, Rue S. Jacques, a l'Ange-Gardien, Lyon. 1572. Hardcover, 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall. Book, Rare survivor - 7" x 5". A full page plate book of all the saints (47/48 plates - may never have been complete). Each saint is depicted in a durer-esque style often with gremlins etc with a small panel at foot in latin about each saint. The titlepage is in manuscript hand - black & red titles. Bound in early 18th century full speckled calf with raised bankds & old spine label. Nicking at spine tips only & normal wear to extremities - with 1" crack to bottom right foot of spine. Original marbled endpapers. A handful of small neat old monastry stamps in french on endpaper & 3 times on back on plates only. The leaves are immensely crisp & fresh. The engravings of a superb quality and very deep dark early impressions. A beautiful item. Very good.

Pp. Iv, [6], 367, [5] addenda. Original early 19th century half calf with marbled boards. The boards are detatched and the spine is missing. The boards have wear to extremities. The textblock holds together well. Neat manuscript inscription to his sister on endpaper dated 1872. Some ususal occasional foxing to plates. All leaves present. Would make a very good candidate to bind usuing existing 19th century boards. Good.

Caerfyrddin, Mr Peter Williams, gan Ioan Ross. 1770. Hardcover. Book, Not paginated. Pp. A-pp1. Psalm book continuously pp2-x1. New testament in welsh bound with psalms at rear. Original late 18th century welsh calf boards in primitive 18th century style with "m. T 1771" stamped on the front board and early blindstamped decoration. Rebacked in sympathetic primatively style calf with raised bands & blind stamped vignette within spine compartments & "testa newydd" in gilt. Wear to extremities of boards particuarly rear board - boards showing at all corners with a strip of approx 1" showing along the leading edge of the bottom of back board. Internally complete; endpapers with considerable manuscript notes relating to the williams, thomas & nicholls families (previous ownership) and similar on rear endpaper. The front endpaper on rebacking has been taken from a blank which was sited originally somewhere within text. The front endpaper has the williams genealogy written upon. Some annotations within text. Folding apostolic map present but dusted with wrinkling(often missing). Tear to top blank margin of i2. Copious handling marks and dusting. A rare copy of this new testament. New testament collated complete ending with pp1 of tables. Psalm book ends on x1. (collates complete). Copies located on copac end with pp1 of new testament and do not appear to include the psalms book at rear. A rare survival. Good.
