Very good condition overall.; Volume 52 of the Transactions of the Oriental Ceramic Society is unusual in being the first for several years in which all the papers are directly concerned with Chinese ceramics. It includes a stimulating study by Jan Chapman on one type of Tang sancai figure for which a controversial interpretation is offered. There is also an interesting historical paper by N.J. Pearce on the reasons for the decline of Chinese export porcelain in the nineteenth century, presenting a new view on this. One of the Society's rare papers on technical problems, in this instance on Tang polychrome, is offered by Jessica Rawson and two coleagues from the British Museum Research Laboratory. The final paper is the Fifth Hills Gold Medal Lecture by Margaret Medley, who considers Patterns of Chinese Taste in Porcelain and the relationship to imperial patronage. Very Good/Dust Jacket Included.
