Each of the fifteen chapters begins with a chronological table and ends with a catalog. The nearly 500 illustrations are carefully integrated with the text. The book explains simply and precisely what constitutes the special features of this major branch of Chinese art in which they have excelled. Masterpieces of this art are displayed and the intricacies of technique, materials, glazes and the evolution of forms and decoration clearly explained.
