KAMAL-UD-DIN, KHWAJA
Al-Islam
Woking, Surrey, Woking Mission and Literary Trust. 1934. Soft cover. Book, N.d. [c.1934?]. 41pp. 21.5cm. Printed wrappers. Printed gray wrappers, stapled, some rubbing and small brown spot on front panel, also stamp of London Book Co. Peshawar, internally fine. A basic introduction to the Koran by one of the most successful early Muslim missionaries in Great Britain. Khwaja Kamal-ud-Din (1870-1932), a Lahore barrister, came to England in 1912 to plead a case and stayed to found the Shah Jehan Mosque at Woking, the Woking Muslim Mission & Literary Trust and The Islamic Review. The exact date of publication cannot be determined but the author's name is preceded on the title page-cover by the words, "The Late.." so the date 1934? is an educated guess. Scarce. 3 copies were listed in on-line catalogues: at the Libary of Congress, the University of the West Indies and in the small collection of the author's works at the Hamilton College Library, Clinton, NY. Fine.
