New York, William Morrow and Company. 1944. Hardcover. Book, [v], 246pp. 8vo/21cm. Brown decorated cloth, very light wear in edgeworn dj chipped at tail of spine. VG+/Poor. A good yarn about the wartime RAF and a love story set in it. The Canby review leaflet is in perfect condition. Nevil Shute (1899-1960) was a pilot, aeronautical engineer and highly successful novelist. At the time of writing, he was a Lieutenant Commander in the Royal Navy. Henry Seidel Canby (1878-1961) was a critic, editor and Yale University professor. He was also founder and editor of the Saturday Review of Literature.
