CHURCH PUBLISHING INCORPORATED
Lectionary Texts Year C
New York, NY: Church Publishing Incorporated, 1982. Trade Edition. Paperback. This is a trade sized paperback with heavy cardstock covers and a glued spine. The book and its contents are in mostly clean, bright condition. The spine ends and corners have some beginning rubbing and wear. The covers have some generalized rubbing as well. "Within Christianity, the use of pre-assigned, scheduled readings from the scriptures can be traced back to the early church, and seems to have been inherited from Judaism. The earliest documentary record of a special book of readings is a reference by Gennadius of Massilia to a work produced at the request of Bishop Venerius of Marseilles, who died in 452, though there are 3rd-century references to liturgical readers as a special role in the clergy. Not all of the Christian Church used the same lectionary, and throughout history, many varying lectionaries have been used in different parts of the Christian world. Until the Second Vatican Council, most Western Christians (Catholics, Old Catholics, Anglicans, Lutherans, and those Methodists who employed the lectionary of Wesley) used a lectionary that repeated on a one-year basis. This annual lectionary provided readings for Sundays and, in those Churches that celebrated the festivals of saints, feast-day readings.". Very Good+ .

JACKSON, WAYNE, Fortify Your Faith. . . In an Age of Doubt
JACKSON, WAYNE
Fortify Your Faith. . . In an Age of Doubt
Stockton, CA: Wayne Jackson, 1974. 1st Edition; 1st Printing. Staples. This is a trade sized booklet with cardstock covers and a stapled spine. The booklet is in Very Good- condition and was issued without a dust jacket. The booklet covers have spots of discoloration and have generalized fading. The text pages are in generally clean condition, however a former owner has (neatly) underlined passages in two chapters. "The doctrine of premillennialism asserts that God unconditionally promised Canaan to the descendants of Abraham. Further, it is contended that the promise has never been completely granted; hence, the claim is made that the Jews eventually will be restored to Palestine in order that the Abrahamic covenant might be fulfilled. Indeed, some are declaring that, with the establishment of Israel as an independent government in 1948, the Jewish restoration was begun, and this is a signal of the imminent return of Jesus Christ. Again, we must kindly note that this notion is not consistent with biblical teaching. " (some information from Boyd Wayne Jackson's website). Very Good- .

Through his writings, Simons articulated and formalized the teachings of earlier Swiss founders, with the early teachings of the Mennonites founded on the belief in both the mission and ministry of Jesus, which the original Anabaptist followers held with great conviction, despite persecution by various Roman Catholic and Protestant states. An early set of Mennonite beliefs was codified in the Dordrecht Confession of Faith in 1632, but the various groups do not hold to a common confession or creed. " (from Wikipedia). Very Good+ .

The Bahá'í Faith has three central figures: the Báb (1819–1850) , considered a herald who taught his followers that God would soon send a prophet similar to Jesus or Muhammad; the Báb was executed by Iranian authorities in 1850; Bahá'u'lláh (1817–1892) , who claimed to be that prophet in 1863 and faced exile and imprisonment for most of his life; and his son, ? Abdu'l-Bahá (1844–1921) , who was released from confinement in 1908 and made teaching trips to Europe and the United States. " (from Wikipedia). Very Good .

The underlying premise is that the greatest "miracle" is the act of simply gaining a full "awareness of love's presence" in a person's life. Schucman said that the book had been dictated to her, word for word, via a process of "inner dictation" from Jesus Christ. The book is considered to have borrowed from New Age movement writings. ACIM has three sections: "Text", "Workbook for Students", and "Manual for Teachers". Written from 1965 to 1972, some distribution occurred via photocopies before the Foundation for Inner Peace published a hardcover edition in 1976. The copyright and trademarks, which had been held by two foundations, were revoked in 2004 after lengthy litigation because the earliest versions had been circulated without a copyright notice.
