"The Battle of Crete , codenamed Operation Mercury, was a major Axis airborne and amphibious operation during World War II to capture the island of Crete. It began on the morning of 20 May 1941, with multiple German airborne landings on Crete. Greek and other Allied forces, along with Cretan civilians, defended the island. After only one day of fighting, the Germans had suffered heavy casualties and the Allied troops were confident that they would defeat the invasion. The next day, through communication failures, Allied tactical hesitation, and German offensive operations, Maleme Airfield in western Crete fell, enabling the Germans to land reinforcements and overwhelm the defensive positions on the north of the island. Allied forces withdrew to the south coast. " (from Wikipedia). Very Good .

The college from which ROTC originated is Norwich University in Northfield, Vermont. Norwich was founded in 1819 at Norwich, Vermont, as the American Literary, Scientific and Military Academy. The university was founded by former West Point instructor Captain Alden Partridge, who promoted the idea of a "citizen soldier"—a man trained to act in a military capacity when his nation required, but capable of fulfilling standard civilian functions in peacetime." New York: Military Publishing Institute, Inc, 1960. 1st Printing. Paperback. Trade PB. B&W Photographs and Illustrations; This is a trade paperback book. The book is in Very Good+ condition and was issued without a dust jacket. The book and its contents are in mostly clean, bright condition. The text pages are clean, but have noticeable toning. "Before 1902, the Navy had at least two books for training young men in naval procedure. Seamanship, by Captain Alfred Thayer Mahan, was the primary textbook about seamanship at the United States Naval Academy but was not used by enlisted men; many sailors at the time were still illiterate and in any case, the oral traditions and procedures of petty officers were the basis of enlisted sailors' education. The Seaman's Handbook by LCDR Stephen B. Luce, saw general use in the Merchant Marine, but less in the Navy. 1902 saw the first publication of The Bluejacket's Manual, written by Lieutenant Ridley McLean, as well as the Recruit's Handy Book. Every enlistee received the latter, and by World War I, both were being issued to every recruit. The Handy Book was discontinued in the 1920s. " (from Wikipedia). Very Good+ .

In clear, non-alarmist language, Eric Croddy provides a detailed survey of the key issues related to CBW - chemical and biological warfare. He extensively details known chemical and biological agents, describes how they are weaponized, considers the roles they have played in history, and evaluates the actual risk of their being uses in today's highly charged geopolitical climate."
