STEVENSON, D. E.
A World in Spell
New York City, Farrar & Rinehart, Inc. 1939. Hardcover. pp. vi, 298.8vo,,Bound in original orange cloth and in original dust jacket,Famed (in her day) British romance author ventures into the science fiction genre. Published in England under the title 'Of The Empty World', this is the first American edition. At the end of the book is a four-page 'teaser': the first four pages of the author's other new novel 'The Story of Rosabelle Shaw'. The rarely seen dust jacket is present, but it has some problems. It has two open tears and the former owner laid-in some plain paper to close the tears. He (or she) also used ordinary 'scotch'-type tape to strengthen the folds and hold down some clear acetate. The result is the inevitable darkening and wrinkling of the tape. Photos would show these flaws clearly - please ask. The book itself has a bit of a spine slant, and shows light soiling to the board edges. The front hinge was cracked, but has been repaired with new matching endpapers. Contents clean and unmarked. .
