Menu 91n2 Graduation Dinner [Together with] Graduation Dinner No. 2 A.O. S. [a Lot of Four Graduation Dinner Programs for 1944]
Edmonton, AB, 1944.Stiff card covers show light wear, else each in very good cond,The first two programs are printed on stiff card, folded once (i.e. to four pags). Both are dated May 2, 1944. The first, on blue card, is printed on the front '91N1 Graduation Dinner / Macdonald Hotel / Edmonton.Alberta.Canada' The meaning of '91N1' is not clear but, given the depiction on the front cover of a kangaroo hopping over a map showing Australia, Canada, and England, one may presume that it is either a course taught in Edmonton to Australian pilots or navigators, or it is an Australian regiment. The second card is a bit smaller, and is on stiff white card, with blue printing and reads: 'Menu 91N2 Graduation Dinner' and then the same date and location. It depicts a 'hitchhiking' man in uniform between two direction signs, one indicating '2 A.O.S.' (Air Observers School), and the other 'O.T.U. 6000 mls'. Both programs have numerous autographs on the last page (back) of each folder. In addition, the blue program has neatly tabbed in on the third page a photograph of the graduates with their names printed below. The other two programs are dated June 13, 1944, and read: 'Graduation Dinner / Course 94 / No. 2 A.O.S. / R.A.A. / R.A.F. / R.C.A.F.' and are identical except for the names hand-written on the bottom right corner. Both have similar photos, with the subjects identified, but both photos are of different people. Neither of these programs have autographs. Note: it is known that, during the Second World War, there was a military aviation school in Alberta, called Blatchford Field, which trained Commonwealth navigators. Ill.: black-and-white photographs.
