The boards of volume I are sl. bowed, and there is evidence of exposure to moisture along the top edge of the text block, due to rippling of pages. The front hinge is cracked. The contents are clean and tight. Volume II is in better condition, with less evidence of exposure to moisture, and with tight hinges. Volume III is in about the same condition as the first volume. Overall, still a sound set in good condition. Ill.: black-&-white illustrations. This is the second revised edition. The author has 'undertaken the preparation of the present work with the purpose .. of supplying the needs of the practitioner of medicine, the dietitian, the hospital interns and medical student, as well as furnishing a reference work for the Domestic Science and Nurses' Training Schools' in the physiological and chemical processes of the digestion by the human body of various foods, and the effects which these foods have upon the human body.
