Engraved by Gerard Edelinck (1640-1707) after François de Troy (1645-1730). This portrait was published in Moréri's 'Le grand dictionaire historique', Lyon: J. Gyrin et B. Rivière, 1683. Etching and engraving on hand laid paper, sheet size 317 x 390 mm., engraved by Gerard Edelinck (1640-1707) after Louis Ferdinand Elle (II), dit Louis Le Vieux (1612 -1689). In poor condition, cropped within platemark. A brownish stain in the are around the face of the portrayed person. Several repaired damages in the top left edge of the sheet, and stains in the sheet edges. The condition of this print is reflected in the price. Engraved by Gerard Edelinck (1640-1707) after Arnold Boonen (1669-1729), ca. 1675. In good condition, the margins quite foxed and with minimal paper loss top left. A crease over the middle of the sheet, and two smaller creases in the lower half of the image area. Refernce: Robert-Dumesnil 180: 239 I (early state, before lettering).

Oval portrait of Pierre Mignard (1612-1695), a French painter known for his religious and mythological scenes and portraits. He was a near-contemporary of Charles Le Brun, with whom he engaged in a bitter, life-long rivalry. Engraving on wove paper, sheet size 209 x 152 mm., platemark 152 x 103 mm., engraved by Étienne Ficquet after Hyacinthe Rigaud. Étienne Ficquet (1719-1794) was a French engraver. Hyacinthe Rigaud (Perpignan 1659-1743 Paris) was a French (court) painter, art collector, and teacher at the Académie Royale de Peinture et de Sculpture. He was an apprentice of Lafosse and Lebrun. In very good condition, a few spots in the top margin, and some faint soiling in the right margin edge.

Circular profile portrait of Johann Benjamin Erhard. Johann Benjamin Erhard (Nuremberg 1766-1827 Berlin) was a German political philosopher and doctor during the French Revolution. Stipple engraving on wove paper, sheet size 257 x 208 mm., platemark 148 x 108 mm. Engraved by Friedrich Fleischmann, c. 1830. Friedrich Fleischmann (Nuremberg 1791-1834) was a German illustrator, draftsperson, miniature painter, and graphic artist, who made mainly portraits. He was the father of Andreas and Jacob Fleischmann. In good condition. Some stains just below the platemark, some foxing in the left margin. Two sets of two collection marks on the verso: Lugt 789a (D RPK; duplicate Rijksprentenkabinet, Amsterdam) and Lugt 2228 (Rijksmuseum Amsterdam).

Portrait of Mary of Burgundy, a member of the House of Valois-Burgundy who ruled the collection of states that included the duchies of Limburg, Brabant, Luxembourg, the counties of Namur, Holland, Hainaut and other territories, from 1477 until her death in 1482. Engraving on hand laid paper, sheet size 192 x 128 mm. Engraved by Jean Jacques Flipart after the painting by Rogier van der Weyden. This engraving was published in: Sellius and Dujardin. Histoire générale des Provinces-Unies. Paris: Pierre Guillaume Simon, 1760, vol. 4, p. 165. Jean Jacques Flipart (Paris 1719-1782) was a French reproductive engraver and illustrator. Rogier van der Weyden (Doornik 1399/1400 - 1464 Brussels) was a South Netherlandish painter and draughtsperson. In very good condition, although cropped within platemark. Aftekening der Schilderye, op 't Stadhuis te Dordrecht geplaatst, ter gedagtenisse van de Overwinning by Chattam, in 't Jaar 1667, onder 't beleid van KORNELIS DE WIT. Rurwaard van Putten.
Glorification of Cornelis de Witt: the commander in armour, holding a commandostaf, is represented on the left, being crowned with laurel by flying putti while a Fame is blowing a trumpet. On the background the trip to Chatham (June 1667). On the left also a cornucopia with symbols of the prosperity of land and wealth. This illustration was used in Jan Wagenaar's "Vaderlandsche historie", published in Amsterdam between 1749-1759, in 21 volumes. This pint belongs to vol. XIII, p. 478. The original painting in the town hall of Dordrecht was destroyed in 1672, soon after the horrifying death of the de Witt brothes. Signed lower right corner: "S.Fokke fec"; on the left corner: "A. Schoumann del, naar 't Originele Model" l Etching on laid paper; tot.213 x 282 mm with margins, some damages along the margins. Signs of folding. PH4F
