Set of four hardcovers with leather spines and paper covered boards. The spines are divided in six shields of which the second shield shows the gilded title on a red background and the fourth the volume. The mock ribs are decorated with a gilded pattern. Each volume contains an ex libris (Dr. O.H. Dijkstra). The spines of volume two and four are slightly loose at the top. The corners of all the books are a bit worn. A portfolio of 24 plates in a burgundy red cloth folder with gilded lettering. The folder is a bit stained and the spine discolored. The containing plates are in good condition. The folder contains a variety of sketches bij Albert Hendschel (1834-1883). The beautiful pen and pencil illustrations were made by Henschel as leisure, but his friends and father (M. Hendschel) thought his work should be shown to the world.
