In this anthology the 275 selections from nearly 50 poets survey the development of New Zealand poetry from its beginning a century ago. The greater part consists of work published in the late 1920's and 1930's, but the inclusion of poems by Alfred Domett, Jessie Mackay, William Pember Reeves, Hubert Church and other pioneers gives particular interest to the anthology as the first to trace the evolution and definition of a New Zealand idiom in poetry.
