MIDDLETON, CHRISTOPHER
The Lonely Suppers of W.V. Balloon
Cheshire, Carcanet Press. 1975. Soft Cover, 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. A Fine unmarked copy in card covers with near Fine dustjacket which has little fading to spine. 103 pages. Widely translated into other languages, Middleton's poems contain a variability factor which his English critics have been apt to misconstrue. His poems are crystallizations of complex passions or explorations of perceptual and imaginative experience happening at once on several linguistic levels. Many of the poems in this collection explore the experience of time. All evoke alternative universes. 50. Fine/Near Fine.
