SOTHEBY'S. Inside Story.
London. Bloomsbury, 1997., Watson worked on a Channel 4 programme about Sotheby's, which exposed some of their shady dealings & dishonesty. There was plenty of unused material left over, so Watson spent 5 further years investigating Sotheby's business practises. Working undercover, he found evidence of dishonesty from many countries, with dealers selling rare statues etc. from excavations, despite the laws against it. Also 'Old Masters' illegally imported, with Sotheby's knowledge. With copies of the correspondence involved between the people involved & Sotheby's, this is a very sad account where priceless antiquities are for sale. 326 pages including about 30 copies of documents, letters, memos & notes.
