Copy of Lars Bergquist, Swedish diplomat and author.First edition of Loefling's travel account describing the flora in Spain and South America, posthumously published by his teacher Carl von Linné. The main part of the work comprises "Plantae hispanicae and plantae americanae" with descriptions of 52 Spanish plants and 75 American plants.Pehr Loefling, invited by the Spanish government, resided around Madrid for a few years during which time he collected about 1400 distinct plants. Later on he moved to the Spanish territories in South America where he died already in 1756. Loefling's manuscript and additional notes of the collection are still kept at Madrid. Hulth p.110.
