A rare bilingual dictionary with transliteration of the Tatar words by Cyrillic type. The work is structured by subject, such as parts of the human body, family, professions, seasons, animals, plants, foods, colours, clothes, measures, etc. At end a brief grammar presenting the main rules of Russian and Tatar languages. This dictionary was published in Kazan, capital of Russian Tatarstan, which became an important centre for Oriental studies in Russia. Religious and spiritual literature in local languages based on Cytilic type were printed here. No copies found in OCLC.

. One large sheet of a coloured board game (69.5 x 53 cm). Text with game rules pp. (4). Housed in the original paper envelope (24 x 26.5 cm), worn. The board consists of a map of the area around the Black Sea. According to the instructions the players are Russians who marches to Constantinople to capture the hoard of money kept there by the Turks. The players appoint one Tsar and the others are generals with various Russian names. The route march begins in Odessa and continues via Sevastopol, Tiflis, Ardahan, Bukarest, Giurgevo (Giurgiu), Sistova, Plevna, Varna, Adrianople (Edirne), Constantinople, Gallipoli, and concludes at Tokat in Anatolia.

Loose in binding. First published in 1928, reprinted many times. A lovely example of Interknizhka by one of the most famous Russian children's book authors at this time, Agniya Barto (1906-81). A collection of lullaby poems focused on children from different parts of the world: Chinese, African, Indian and Soviet babies. It was published as part of Proletarian Internationalism which formed the core of the 1920s Communist pedagogical doctrine by showing troubled lives of those living outside the Soviet Union.

Contemporary calf, spine with five raised bands, rubbed and hinges weak, marbled edges, spine expertly restored. First French edition (orig. in German 1698). A journal of the Russian embassy headed by Everard Isbrand Ides which went over land from Moscow to Peking, written by the secretary of the embassy, Adam Brand. The aim of the expedition was to conclude commercial agreements with the Chinese but, in fact, this was not incorporated. Includes a table "des chiffres de la carte" (pp. 183-92) with numbers of cities and other places passed along the route, indicated on the map. The map only to be found in this edition. The Mari people were known as "Cheremis" (sometimes Tatar) and their language belongs to the Uralic language family and is primarily spoken along the northern bank of the Volga river and eastwards of the Urlas. A German translation of "Narrative of a pedestrian journey through Russia and Siberian Tartary..." (London 1824). Captain John Dundas Cochrane was a nephew of the famous Lord Cochrane, and after the peace, being turned down for further naval service, set out on foot to tour the world. The Russian Government gave him travelling facilities and he travelled, mainly by foot, across Siberia to Kamsckatka. This account contains observations from the expeditions of Otto von Kotebue, Vasilieff and Baron Ferdinand Vrangel. Includes descriptions of the native people, their social and economic conditions.
