Title page slightly browned but otherwise in excelllent condition. First edition. A collection of various Art Nouveau designs for ceramics, decorative panels, jewellery, furniture, silver and ironworks, jewellery, etc made by renowned artists at the time including Roubille, Brandt, Bacard, Daurat, Bacard and Ségaud. Moreover, there are many textile patterns from this period which dates back to previous centuries. Some of the plates were also published in "Documents de décoration moderne" issued about 1900.

Contemporary green cloth with painted colour illustration on upper cover, pretty floral end papers. Inscription dated 1958 on free front end paper. A fictional "Hindu" tale written by Francis William Bail, a British writer and an expert in Sanskrit literature. He wrote fantasy stories that he claimed were translated from ancient Sanskrit tales, but eventually it turned out that he had written the fairy tales himself. Ę

. 16mo. Size: 10 x 13.5 cm. Pp. 59. With six full-page coloured plates. Publisher's pictorial boards, cloth spine, rubbed. Some leaves with small corner loss. First edition of this unusual Hungarian children's book illustrated by Lajos Kozma in a characteristic Art Nouveau style. The book was issued by Kner Publishing House as one of a series of three children's books, of which another one is Anna Lezsnai's "Mese a bśtorok—l". Béla Balâzs was a Hungarian - Jewish film critic, writer and poet. He was the writer of the scenario for Bart—k's ballet "The Wooden Prince". Lajos Kozma was one of the foremost Hungarian architects and interior designers of the early 20th century. He joined "The Young Ones" a group of architects influenced by the "Vienna Secession". His early works were created in Art Nouveau style but later, through Art Deco, he found his way to the International Modernism.

Margins trimmed, first forty leaves with wormholes in outer margin, of which first five repaired, no text loss. Partly with some light water staining. Nicely rebound to period style full calf, gilt floral dentelles on covers, spine decorated and lettered in gilt (by B. Middleton). An important account of the campaign against the Ottomans by the Princes of the Holy Roman Empire under the Emperor Leopold I, and of the Imperial army in Croatia and Transylvania. First published in Italian (Milan 1685) without illustrations. Apponyi, Hungarica, 1342. Palau 30049, p. 231: "Obras mas estimada en el extranjero qu en Espana". Pallau calls for 38 plates only.

Publisher's pictorial burgundy cloth, upper cover and spine printed in gilt, lightly rubbed. Floral endpapers. Old ownership stamp. First edition of this early and scarce Hungarian Art Nouveau illustrated book of poems. Koronghi Lippich (1862-1924) was an early propagator of Art Nouveau as well as the Arts and Crafts movement in Hungary as the head of the Fine Arts Department at the Ministry of Education and Religion. The two illustrators of this work, Sândor Nagy and Aladâr (Körösf›i-) Kriesch, were the founders of the art colony at Gödöll›, the cradle of Hungarian Art Nouveau. Together with Lippich they shared the interest in the Transylvanian art, and used it to form the unique Hungarian style in modern art, of which this is a beautiful example.

Publisher's decorated paper boards, vellum spine. First edition, limited to 250 copies. This is number 69 of 200 printed on hand made paper. Comprises twenty short stories by Medgyes together with beautiful Art Nouveau illustrations. Lâszl— Medgyes, born in 1892, was a Hungarian avant-garde artist who moved to Paris in 1920. There he provided scenic design for opera and theatre productions. He established a school "École Medgyes pour la Technique du Thęatre" together with the famous Hungarian architect Ernö Goldfinger. In 1925 he exhibited in New York and later worked as interior designer throughout Europe and the US. Provenance: Rezs› Szij (1915-2006) renowned Hungarian art historian. He was the chief librarian of the Hungarian National Library, the founder of the Hungarian Association of Bibliophiles, and published several books on art history, history of literature and printing. A few plates with trace of folding corners, occasionally some light staining, but overall a fine set. Composition size: 158 x 208 mm. Original folder with title label on upper cover, somewhat soiled, spine expertly repaired. First edition, limited to 120 copies. This is number 65 (of 85) on Holland paper. A set of attractive lithographs in Art Nouveau and Art Deco style by a celebrated Hungarian avant-garde artist. Medgyes (1892-?) was raised and educated in Budapest. He moved to Paris in the 1920s where he established a school teaching theatre scenic design. He worked throughout Europe and the States with decorative design, advertising and interior design.
