. Oblong folio. (46 x 32.5 cm). The album contains 163 colour plates with designs printed on paper, along with a plate featuring two photos of the factories in Genval and Mont-Saint-Guibert. A printed price list is pasted on front paste-down. Original cloth-covered boards with gilt lettering reading "PG Carte Riche 1932" on upper board, rubbed with some loss on the covers. This impressive, large collection contains strikingly elaborate wallpaper patterns, many in typical Art deco style. Featuring eye-catching floral, geometric and tropical patterns including stylised and two-dimensional plants (for example leaves of palm trees, ferns, flowers heads of roses, etc.). Rendered in bright, intense colours, often with striking contrasts, and some with gold and silver accents. Some samples are accompanied by images of rooms decorated with the corresponding design, while others have been given a narrow matching border. Palateries de Genval was founded in 1904 by Auguste Lannoye. The company specialised in the production of wrapping paper, wallpaper, especially balatum, which is a smooth material of felt soaked in bitumen and gutta-percha, similar to linoleum.
