Original crimmon cloth, gilt, with some fading and marks. Internally crisp and clean. First edition. A narrative based on two voyages in the 1870's visiting India, Ceylon, Singapore, Indonesia, China, Hong Kong, Japan and North America by an amateur botanist. The plates are made after the author's drawings and depict plants, fruits, views and natives along the route. This work contains several references to coffee cultivation.
