From the preface: "The face of London is changing so rapidly that the time cannot be far distant when much that is recording these pages will have disappeared". As this was written in 1931, the anticipated changes came of course much sooner and much more dramatically than had been anticipated. Condition: Boards clean and firm, with just a very little knocking at corners. A hint of differential fading on the top board. Internally, clean and bright. Very Good.

With 183 pivtures by Joseph pennell and plans an diagrams. Condition: All illustrations as called for, all in good condition. The spine has been repaired and the original spine strip laid on. The boards are discoloured and somewhat knocked, but sound. Hinge strained at half-title and one or two other places, otherwise internally clean and sound. Two previous owner's bookplates to front paste down (one S. Swithun's School, Winchester, faint remnants of a pasted-in label to front free endpaper, with ink note "General reading", and again in pencil to verso of title page, but no other marks of having been a library book. Previous owner's name to front free end paper (S.H.Blore, Winchester College). Heavy book; extra postage is likely to be needed.. Good.
