A comfortable if a little worn copy. Stamped gilt titling and decoration; blind stamped decoration. The Tuscan brown boards have wear about the edges, corners and seams. The spine has wear to the head and foot. The boards and spine are scuffed, marked by hand and stacking and shelving. They are healthy and steady. Despite the years, the boards retain their grandeur and presence. Within, the contents are convivial. The paper is handmade and with the Whatman watermark. The pages are untrimmed, thick, healthy. The hinges to the fore and aft are a little creaky from the weight of the boards. The pages have storage marks, some few handling marks, rubbing marks. The tissue guards are occasionally creased. The contents are overwhelmingly pleasing, gratifying, clean, clear, hale, strong, assured, amenable, generous. fk. Very Good/No Jacket.

A gratifyingly set. Lid has stamped gilt titling (amiable). The case is much worn, scuffed, marked all about from storage, ownership, use. It is still functional and useful. The inside of the lid has residue from a removed label. The books are charming. The spines of all have some light wear to the head and foot from handling. However, the flexi-leather covers of all are handsome, fresh, healthy. Blind-stamped decoration and titling. Volume I has a school presentation label on the front pastedown. Vol I: The Tempest, Two Gentlemen of Verona, Merry Wives of Windsor, Measure for Measure. Vol II: The Comedy of Errors, Much Ado About Nothing, Love's Labour's Lost, A Midsummer-Night's Dream, The Merchant of Venice. They are steady and sound. The paper trims have foxing. The contents have spots and blotches of foxing here and there. The Dulac plates are most pleasingly fresh-faced and evocative.
