BAKER, SIR SAMUEL W
Wild Beasts and Their Ways: Reminiscences of Europe, Asia, Africa, and America - 2 Volumes
Macmillan and Co. London and New York. 1890, First Edition. Hardcover, with dust jacket. Two volumes (complete). Please note that the illustration plate at page 100 is missing. Two much owned, much enjoyed copies. Both copies have ex-libris plates for Frank Lawson of Ewelme Down (a very wealthy friend of Margot Asquith). The frontispages have an impressed address: Kamwaki, Nanyuki, Kenya Colony. The front boards have labels from Mudie's Select Library on Oxford Street. The boards are scruffy. They are much worn, knocked about, marked, scuffed, stained from storage, all about. The titling and decorations etc are worn, resigned but resolute. The boards are still steady and placid. The contents also bear much evidence of contented, even avid use throughout. Whilst the years rest languidly, the pages have wear, age-related marks. Nonetheless, the pages are fraternal, clear, clean(ish), certain, competent, convivial, able, amenable, still useful for resource and reading. fk. Fair/No Jacket.
