Volume I: 'The Evolution of Modesty, The Phenomena of Sexual Periodicity, Auto-Eroticism'. The boards have scuffing and shelving wear and knocks about the edges. The spine has wear to the head and foot, it is dulled and worn. The spine and boards are secure and sure. Within, the very early pages have some slight storage wear. Pp 115-124, 191-206, the later pages have very light storage marks about the bottom edges. Otherwise, the contents are healthy, clean, clear, confident. Volume II: 'Sexual Inversion' (pub: 1926). A most important publication. The second edition, and onwards, of this volume was the most complete and conscientious study into homosexuality; Ellis was a lone voice at the time in recommending the decriminalisation and acceptance of the homosexual. The boards have mild storage marks and wear. The spine has wear to the head and foot, and the body is a little wrinkled. However, the boards and spine are fit and sure. The contents have some very occasional storage marks and creases. They are hale, assured, clean and clear. Volume III: 'Analysis of the Sexual Impulse, Love and Pain, The Sexual Impulse in Women' (Second Edition, Revised and Enlarged, pub: 1925). The boards have mild wear about the edges from shelving, some light scuffing. The spine has wear to head and foot and is scuffed. The spine and boards are sturdy and sound. The guttering along the title page is cracked, but the security of the book is unaffected. The contents are very sure, clean and clear, bold. Volume IV (not marked as such): 'Sexual Selection in Man: 1. Touch, II. Smell, III. Hearing, IV: Vision' (pub: 1926). A comfortable copy. The have very light shelving wear and scuffing. The spine has light wear to the head, foot, seams and scuffing along the body. The boards and seams are secure and steady. The contents are most pleasing. They are fresh, clean and clear, assured, amenable. Volume V: 'Erotic Symbolism, The Mechanism of Detumescence, The Psychic State in Pregnancy' (pub: 1926). A mild-mannered copy. The boards have some very light wear to the edges and corners from shelving. There is scuffing. The spine has mild wear and scuffing. The contents are most agreeable. They are hale, confident, clean and clear and certain. Volume VI: 'Sex in Relation to Society' (pub: 1925). The boards have some storage marks and wear, some scuffing. The boards are comfortable and steady. The contents are benign. They do have some occasional handling marks, some occasional storage marks about the bottom edges. There are also a few annotations. The contents are contented, healthy, sound, clean and clear. A competent set. Please note that should this set need be posted to the outside of South Africa, extra postal charges may be required. fk.
