Consultatien Advysen En Advertissementen Gegeven Ende Geschreven by Verscheijden Trefflyke Rechts Geleerden in Hollant En Elders - Tweede Deel and Derde Deel
1648. Hardcover, with dust jacket. Two books. Volumes two and three of what was eventually a six book set. In Dutch throughout. Both books are covered in vellum. Volume 2: published by Drukkerije van Joannes Naeranus, Rotterdam, second revised edition, 1648. Published: Pieter Vander Aa, Leyden, 1716. The vellum covers of both books are grubby and much worn. Volume 3 is particularly worn all about. The bindings are aged and whilst stiff and firm are weakened. The contents are secure and sure. Volume 2: the pages at the front and end are worn and creased. The frontispage has a previous ownership stamp (L B Behrmann - a much regarded Johannesburg advocate). From thereon the handpressed paper is healthy, thick, clean. Printers marks at the bottom of each page. Even taking its age into account the contents are in most pleasant condition. Volume 3: the front and end pages are worn and creased. The front paste down has the remains of a previous owner label. The pages have age-related tanning throughout. However, even taking the age of the book into account, the pages are healthy and agreeable. They are clean of annotation and marks, clear, confident and certain. Both are competent, venerable, learned. fk. Good/Fair.
