BEGIN, MENACHEM
White Nights ; the Story of a Prisoner in Russia
Macdonald, London. 1957, 1st Edition. Hardcover, with dust jacket. Inscribed by Author(s)240 pages (complete). Inscribed by Menachem Begin (in clear and excellent condition) on the title page: "To Esther Meyer this book is dedicated with thanks for her good work done in the service of our cause and with my best wishes - M Begin Nov. 1957". Before he started his voyage from insurrectionist to Nobel Prize laureate, Menachem Begin was caught in the whirlwind of World War 2 and was interned in a Russian gulag for being, ironically, an 'agent of British imperialism'. This is the yet-to-be Israeli Premier's story of his imprisonment, torture and eventual release. The dustjacket is enclosed in a clear cellophane protective cover. The dj is worn and torn but secure. The board covers have some knocks to the corners, light marks and scuffing. The contents are near immaculate. They are fresh, clean, clear. The pages are tight, confident, youthful and healthy. A good copy with this rare inscription from Begin. fk. Our orders are shipped using tracked courier delivery services. Good/Fair. signed.
