PARKE, THOS. HEAZLE
My Personal Experiences in Equatorial Africa As Medical Officer of the Emin Pasha Relief Expedition
Sampson Low, Marston & Company Limited, London. 1891, First Edition. Hardcover. 526 pages (complete). Folded map with linen backing at the rear. A stout copy. Rebound by previous owner (The Durban Club). Half leather. The leathered corners and spine (five ridges) are much worn, scuffed, elderly. The boards are scuffed, worn about the edges from shelving. They are steady and sure. Within, the guttering along the frontispage is cracked, but the general security of the book is unaffected. Marble end papers. The front pastedown has the Durban Club ex-libris plate. The contents are resolutely amenable. The early and later pages (together with the map) have foxing and age related marks. The frontispiece and title page are flushed with foxing and tanning. From thereon the contents have occasional blots and splatters of foxing. In general and by far, the pages are firm, healthy, clean and clear, most assured, convivial, tidy, more than competent. Please note that due to the weight of the book, should the book need be posted to the outside of South Africa, extra postal charges may be required. fk.
