Reflections of Sid Fourie - Being Excerpts from His Writings and Sayings
Esco Publishers, Jansenville. 1974, First Edition. Hardcover. 151 pages (complete). Landscape format. Sid Fourie personified the small town of Jansenville. Indeed his house is now the town museum. This collection of his favourite pieces of prose and his sayings are in Dutch, English and Afrikaans. The copy is benign. The board is placid. It has some tanning from storage about the edges. There is light wear. Within, the early and later pages are blushed with foxing. In general, the pages are comfortable, amiable, clean, clear, companionable and affectionate. fk. MANN, CHRIS ; SKEEN, JULIA
The Horn of Plenty: A Series of Painting-Poems
ISEA, Rhodes University, Grahamstown. 1997, First Edition. (ISBN: 0868103241). Hardcover, with dust jacket. 77 pages (complete). Signed by both Chris Mann and Julia Skeen (dated: Grahamstown 1997) on the frontispage. The book has been bent during storage. This, however, is the predominant consequence of storage. The dustjacket is comfortable, creased and worn from handling and storage. It is scuffed and gently marked. The boards, aside from the bending, are smart, firm and mildly marked about the edges from storage. Within, the pages are clean, clear, bright, healthy, vibrant and vivacious. fk.
