The corners and spine are worn, scuffed, marked, faded. The boards are worn all about. They have scuffing, handling and storage marks. They are placid. The guttering along the frontispage is loose. Previous owner ex-libris plate on the front pastedown. The contents have some amiable tanning from paper quality and the years. They have evidence of happy use throughout. De Opmerker, Pretoria. 1905. Hardcover, with dust jacket. Complete. Bound (rare) copies of 'De Opmerker', a newspaper for the Dutch community in Pretoria and the Transvaal. In Dutch throughout. Both volumes bound in half-leather. Caramel coloured cloth boards. The boards are pleasing, handsome, healthy. First volume contains the first edition. Overwhelmingly the copies are in good, youthful condition. Those that are a little aged and worn have been most carefully restored. Volume 2: most of the copies have tanning from age, such wear as there is has been carefully repaired. All copies, in both volumes, are in excellent health, and most pleasingly bound and maintained. fk. Near Fine/No Jacket.

These too have wear about the edges, corners and faces from shelving, storage. They too are sound and sure. The magazines themselves are in excellent condition. Even now the contents are utterly engaging and relatable. The opinion, news and gossip-cum-anecdotes are enthralling with their immediacy. The pages are fresh, new, clean, clear, consistently confident, neat, tight, certain, much more than competent.
