This book contains a series of letters written by Lord Dufferin to his mother during a journey around the North Atlantic. Having commissioned the schooner "Foam" in 1856, he visited Iceland, Norway, Hammerfest and Spitzbergen. Full calf binding with gilt title and decorations to spine. Spine in six compartments. Boards worn and slightly stained at base of spine with three chips of note. Outer front hinge starting to crack at top of spine but board still firmly attached. All edges gilt. Marbled end paper with gilt surround. Owner book plate on verso of ffep. Illustrated with 25 wood cut engravings and 3 plates. Contents very clean and crisp. Quantity Available: 1.
