A complete survey of the landscape, dress, religion, architecture and customs of the Japanese people at at time when the vestiges of feudal Japan still predominated. A wonderful picture of a now lost culture which however still represents the heart of Japanese tradition. A very sound, clean volume with bright, crisp, unmarked interior. No creases, tears, stains etc. Tissue guards all crisp and in place over color plates which are all pristine and bright. A very occasional fleck of faint foxing to margin of a handful of pages. The boards show excellent color with clear gilt. There are a couple of spots and speckling of even lighter fading along the very edge of spine and front edge of board. Despite the minor defects noted here this is a very attractive copy of this title, in well above average condition. Very good plus. Very Good.

A still unsurpassed explication of the spirit of Japanese art and culture comprised of the texts of 11 lectures given by Professor Harada in the United States (mostly in Oregon) in the years 1935-36. A beautiful book production. This volume is a beautiful, unmarked and apparently unread volume. Very tight, clean and fresh pages with crisp tissue guards on the color plates. The only defect is a faint yellowing to the extreme top edge of the boards, else fine. In a very heavy, crisp, stiff dust jacket which has a couple of mere flecks of soil and some signs of faint dust darkening, else fine. This is a very handsome example of this title and he faults noted are niggling and noticeable only on close inspection. AS NEW. New/As New.

The correspondence course is in four parts which are monotone, pink, lavender, green and orange illustrated wrappers . The "Pamphlets" are in brilliantly multicolored illustrated wrappers of delicate hand made paper, each with a pictorial central illustration surrounded by color floral motifs and bound with bright colored silk ribbon ties. Each of the "course" parts is approximately 40-50 pages and each of the "pamphlets" is approximately 16-20 pages. All are generously illustrated throughout with full page black and white photographs of the arrangements. A beautiful fragile collection of finely produced pamphlets covering mlutiple phases of the art of flower arranging, including, Ikebana, Nae-Ire, Moribana, Kansui-ike and Ikenobo, as well as a history of the art. Single page table of contents included. This set is in excellent condition with all of the "course" pamphlets crisp, square, stiff, unmarked and unread with flat uncreased spines and virtually as new. A couple of the "pamphlets" have very shallow nicks or chips to the fragile edges but they are also all in fine condition. The chemise shows some rubbing and dulling to the outside decoration but the inside decoration is unmarred as is the Japanese title label. A Very Fine to very near fine set in a very good plus chemise. Lovely, fragile and SCARCE. Fine.
