Very good. - Small quarto [9-1/2 inches high by 7-1/8 inches wide], cloth backed boards, in a price-clipped dust wrapper. The boards are lightly bumped with a small dent to the bottom edge of the front board. The dust jacket is rubbed & chipped with a black mark to the rear panel & a piece out of the head of the jacket spine. vi, [i] & 311 pages. There is an owner's ink name on the front endpaper. Black-and-white illustrations by the author. Very good in a good dust wrapper.

The leather covers are rubbed & scuffed with pieces chipped from the head & tail of the spine. Pages [i-xxxii], 1-274, 267-424, 427-482, 493-631, and [1-13]. Misnumbered but textually complete, with decorative head pieces & engraved initials and a full-page botanical illustration on page 313. Lacks the frontispiece, which is somewhat common with this book. There is some occasional minor foxing with some occasional staining. The front edges of the first few leaves are darkened & slightly chipped and there is a tiny piece out from the bottom edge of one leaf. The text block is cracking and a few signatures (i.e. group of pages) are lightly pulled. Good. Third edition. Good .
