Front cover of issue 23 and rear cover of issue 24 are detached. Boards stained and worn. Possible candidates for mounting or framing - could be very handsome. Good+ condition overall. Each volume contains 12 stapled periodicals bearing the title 'The World's Famous Pictures', as well as a title page and list of pictures contained in the volume. Each periodical contains 12 black and white mezzogravures, and 1 detached colour plate. Issue 1 contains an extra detached plate. All plates are present. Periodicals, title pages and lists of illustrations are loose within binding. Ill.: 288 b&w, 24 colour plates.

London, Hodder and Stoughton, 1911. Limited edition. Leather Bound. Unpaginated. Larger 4to. Bound in full decorated vellum. The edges are yapped. Slight ablation to gilt lettering and design on spine: the gilt on the ornately decorated front board is sharp and bright. The two ribbon ties are mostly gone, with 'stubs' remaining. Our copy exhibits the typical tightening of the joints. A few small smudges to front free endpaper. Text block typically rippled; otherwise exceptionally clean and bright. Slight off-setting from plates. In all, a very nice copy in very good condition. This Edition de Luxe is limited to One Hundred Copies signed and numbered, of which this is No. 50 (signed by publisher). A title in The Arundel Library of Great Masters. A very scarce presentation: only 100 copies of this edition were produced, and none are currently offered for sale, or have recently come to auction. .
