End papers are new, crisp and clean. Some browning and minor marking internally, some passages are underlined, or picked out by a cross in the margins, but no serious markings. 24 + 31 + 3 + 5 + 5 pages. Rubbed at the inside between page 1 and the contents- affecting the page numbers in the contents - and a few words at the inside edge of page 1 which are a bit rubbed- otherwise the text is complete, toning and some marking, original early 19th century booksellers label on the endpaper of T. D. Clark of Bristol. Woodcuts in the text. No author given. Good reading copy with nice illustrations of a book originally aimed at the younger reader. Good.

Full leather binding, two spots of leather loss on the front cover and one spot on the rear cover, leather cracking at the spine edges, covers are secure. Small hole on 39 affecting a couple of words, name clipped from the top margin of the title page, margin corner nick to 32, a few sheets slightly loose, toning and some marking to the pages, a few youthful 1827 signatures of Anne Welsh on the endpapers. With another edition of the same bound after the 60th part with title page and with continuous pagination from the 60th part (no index, none found in online copy either). Dimensions; 220 by 140mm. Pages; 96/88/57/99/98/101, (8)/107/115, (8)/188. Half leather binding, has been rebacked with leather overlaid on the spine and not tucked into the edges, inner hinges a bit worn, the binding is secure. The text is complete. Browning to the 60th part, toning and some browning to the other parts. Bound with a lot of the original brown paper covers, a couple pages a bit loose at the rear. Dimensions; 220 by 140mm.
