Of Medieval origin, it was rebuilt following the Great Fire of London in 1666, but demolished to make way for an extension of the neighbouring Bank of England. The parish was united with that of St Margaret Lothbury in 1781, and the church pulled down the next year. In 1839 Saint Bartholomew by the Exchange was added when its church was also demolished. ".

PSALMS - RIVIERE BINDING .
The Book Of Psalms: With A Biblical Commentary .
London: H. Owen, 18 Little Britain, 1864 . 0. First and only edition. A very good full leather binding by Riviere. 4to. 10.0" x 7.5" x 0.75". [8pp.]/pp.263/[1p.] . Black calf with blind stamp decoration and pebbled finish. Gil title within a central gilt oval to both boards: "The Book Of Psalms". Plus small gilt roundals to each corner. Edges lightly rubbed and bumped. Spine with 5 raised bands, understated gilt decorated compartments and gilt titles. All page edges bright gilt. Inner gilt filet border. Marbled endpapers. Clean text throughout in paragraphs. ** The printed dedication begins: "My Dear Children, To you I dedicate this book.." Hence I belive there is a connection with education - Possibly Christ's Hospital - 'The Blue-Coat School' , which is connected to Little Britain. N.B.: "Little Britain is a street in the City of London running from St. Martin's Le Grand in the east to West Smithfield in the west. It forms the northern boundary of St Bartholomew's Hospital and is situated in the Aldersgate and Farringdon Within wards. Postman's Park is also bounded by Little Britain. Historically, Little Britain referred to a small district in the City just north of London Wall, including this street. It is mentioned in Charles Dickens' novel Great Expectations as the location of Jaggers' office. It is also mentioned in Waverley by Sir Walter Scott in connection with the publication of a manuscript. It is not correct, as often said, that the name comes from a medieval Breton enclave, or a possession of the Dukes of Brittany." - See Wikipedia.
