REYNOLDS, JOHN MYRDHIN
BONPO DZOGCHEN TEACHINGS ACCORDING TO LOPON TENZIN NAMDAK.
Kathmandu, Vajra Publications, 2006. 1st edition 268 pp. Pb. Nowadays there are two principal philosophical traditions followed by Tibetan Lamas. The first is found among the Sarmapas, or Newer Schools, which employ the Prasangika Madhyamaka view of Chandrakirti, not only in explicating the real meaning of the Sutra system but also in their interpretation of the Tantras. The second is found among the two Older Schools, the Nyingmapa and the Bonpo, which emphasize the Dzogchen point of view in elucidating their understanding of the Higher Tantras. According to Lopon Tenzin Namdak Yongdzin Rinpoche, the leading Dzogchen master among the Bonpo Lamas living today, It is necessary for us as practitioners to know what Dzogchen is, how to practice it, and the result of this practice. Lopon Rinpoche undertakes this task in a series of nine teachings he gave some years ago to Western students interested in the view of Dzogchen and its practice in meditation. condition as new

ROERICH, GEORGE N.
THE BLUE ANNALS. Parts 1 & 2 (bound in one).
Delhi, Motilal Banarsidass, 1988. reprint 1275 pp. cloth with dustjacket. Second reprint of the second edition. The Blue Annals is a landmark in the historical literature of Tibet. It is the main source of information for all later historical compilations in the ''Land of Snows''. This work is invaluable inasmuch as it establishes a firm chronology of events of Tibetan history and works out in detail the list of the names of famous religious teachers and their spiritual lineage. The work is divided into fifteen chapters, each dedicated to the history of a particular school or sect of Tibetan Buddhism. It provides a comparative study of the chronological data given by T`ang Annals, Blue Annals, and Tunhuang chronicles. The Blue Annals appears to be a faithful reproduction of the list given in the T`ang Annals with minor differences. The book concludes with the portrayal of the origin, etc. of the communities of the four schools. It contains indexes for Sutras and Sastras, Personal Names and Book Titles and Personal Names (Tibetan), etc. Dustjacket shows some edgewear. Light tanning inside. Otherwise nice and clean copy.

SOBISCH, JAN ULRICH
THREE-VOW THEORIES IN TIBETAN BUDDHISM. A Comparative Study of Major Traditions from the Twelfth through Nineteenth Centuries.
Wiesbaden, Dr Ludwig Reichert Verlag, 2002. 1st edition 575 pp. cloth hardcover. Series: Contributions to Tibetan Studies vol. 1. Since the 12th century, a central feature of Buddhism in Tibet was its harmonizing of tantric practice with the moral codes of monastic discipline and Bodhisattva altruism. All masters maintained the vajrayana or tantric path to be superior to the two lower codes, but they described this superiority differently. In the present study, Jan-Ulrich Sobisch explores for the first time in detail the three main strategies maintained by the oldest Tibetan schools for explaining the relations of the three codes. near fine condition
