Not dated [1920 NZNB C1425]. Prefatory by Maui Pomare includes Hinemoa and Tutanekai; Puta and Haumia; Puhihuia and Ponga: Rau-mahora and Takarangi. CONDITION Grey papered bds with Natural Linen spine cloth, 120 pages. Bds a little spotted, top front cnr slightly crushed, bright and crisp copy with toned eps and small spot of insect damage to rear pastedown. Good/No Jacket.

Tan cloth with Brown titles and decoration, pp 118 with colour illus frontis plate and 2 other charming b/w plates internally. DJ printed with nice tiki motif in Green has wear to tear at top tip and little wear to spine ends. Near Fine/Very Good.

Red cloth boards blind embossed with floral decoration, gilt spine title and black front title, waterstaining to front and back boards, spine lightly age darkened with narrow black ink stain along rear edge to top third, cnrs sl canted, bookseller stamps to ffep, contents and intro pgs, pp 246 tight and clean, not foxed or inscribed. Originally released as a stand alone volume, a second volume was released in 1934 and unsold runs were bound in Blue cloth and stamped Volume I to title page. Variant edition. Page (ii) has: "This edition is identical with the first edition (deluxe edition) published in 1930 except that it is unsigned and the volume is complete in itself." CONDITION Brown cloth with gilt titles, Maori motif to front edges and spine, illus of Maori warrior dance (wear to spine ends and tips, small marks to rear) eps show panel work decoration, pp x, [2], 320 with 24 full page illus and nice engraved head and tail pieces of showing carving, design and some wild life. OVERWEIGHT. Very Good/No Jacket.
