London, A P Watt & Son. 1894, 2nd Edition. Hard Cover, 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall. Revised ed. In 1887 a local woman uncovered a cache of over 300 cuneiform tablets. These tablets recorded select diplomatic correspondence of the Pharaoh and were predominantly written in Akkadian commonly used during the Late Bronze Age of the Ancient Near East. This is a translation of the tablets with some history. CONDITION Blue bds with crisp gilt titles, pp xvi 258 with 4 maps and 2 illus of tablets, catalogue of books published by the Palestine exploration fund to rear. Copy is very bright and crisp with light wear to spine ends and tips. Very Good.

Gedi is a ruined village village on the Indian Ocean coast of Kenya, extensive ruins of a former port have been dated to the thirteenth century or earlier, including a tomb with a date corresponding to 1399, until at least the seventeenth century. Later, the port was abandoned and not rediscovered until the 1920s. CONDITION Green bds papered over thin card (small chip with no loss to mid spine o/w fresh and unworn) pp 32 with photos and illus through out, folded map in pocket to rear.
