Nouvelle édition illustrée en premier tirage par Albert Lynch d'un frontispice en couleurs gravé par Gaujean, de 10 eaux-fortes gravées par Massé ou Champollion et de 30 larges en-tête de chaque chapitre gravés en héliogravure directe et imprimées en taille-douce dans des tons variés. préface de Jules janin et nouvelle préface de l'auteur. Couvertures en couleurs conservées, dos également conservé. Tirage de tête limité à 130 exemplaires, un des 100 sur Japon, comportant les Eaux-fortes en double État: avant la Lettre sur Japon et avec Lettre sur Hollande, et un Tirage supplémentaire des Héliogravures Hors-Texte sur Japon.. N°73. En sus, tirage spécial avec le prospectus, du portrait de Marie Duplessis d'après l'original, en noir sur Hollande, et en sanguine sur Japon, et Les quartiers de la dame aux camelias par Lynch, en noir sur Japon et en sanguine sur Hollande. Reliure en demi chagrin framboise d'époque. Dos à 4 nerfs orné d'une branche avec 3 roses écloses et 5 roses en bouton, le tout mosaïqué de rose et vert. Auteur et titre doré. Roulettes sur les nerfs et filets. Tête dorée. Dos éclairci uniformément. Légères traces de frottement au dos. Bel exemplaire, superbement frais. Très belle publication de luxe imprimée sur Japon. La mise en page des débuts de chapitre avec les gravures en sépia, bleu ou autre est particulièrement réussie, ainsi que le tirage des eaux-fortes.
