Colour printed folding sheet (62 x 47 cm) and one page with instructions. As issued in original colour printed folder, with some tears. A Swedish adventure game for children called Sahap which originates from India. Educational and meant to symbolise good (ladders) and evil (snakes). The board is printed in blue and yellow following a path from 1 to 100.

Folio. Size: 23.5 x 35.5 cm. A complete set comprising twenty parts bound in five volumes. Pp. 22 with Japanese text and 122 plates with woodcut images, all printed in bright, fresh colours some heightened with silver or gold. Double page leaves folded in the Japanese fashion. Publisher's decorated paper covers, title labels, some staining along the edges. Housed in original brown cloth slip case, somewhat worn. First edition of this monumental and fascinating work devoted to traditional Japanese toys and antique folk crafts. The illustrator is Kawasaki Koysen (1877-1942) who worked during the Meiji and Showa periods specializing in pictures of traditional Japanese toys and antique folk crafts, also including good-luck charms which he found during his travels around Japan. During his career he produced 52 Gangucho sketchbooks containing about 5000 different images. A rare and impressive work in very good condition.

Pp. 70-83. With illustrations. Original wrappers. Offprint from Ethons, published by the Ethnographical Museum in Stockholm. T'ou Hu was an ancient ceremonial game. "It is quite evident that Picth-pot was an exclusive pastime in the nobel circles and that it was prefected as early as the Chou period" (p. 74). Montell, Swedish ethnographer, participated in Hedin's expedition to Central Asia 1929-33.

Colour printed sheet (72 x 62 cm). Printed in green, black and orange. Rules and instructions printed outside the labyrinth. Original envelope with a coloured lithograph pasted on front cover. A Swedish game in the form of a labyrinth. The players have to get through the maze lined with nasty animals to reach the beautiful maiden at the centre. With three small almost invisible holes but overall in very good condition.
