Some staining, a few plates are soiled and some with tear at margin. Half calf, spines with four raised gilt bands and lettered in gilt. A Swedish version of "Voyage de la Propontide et du Pont Euxin" (Paris 1800), translated by Bergstedt and with his comments and addendum. Includes additional descriptions of Smyrna, the Troad, the islands of Zea, Tenedos, Myteline, Chios, Samos, Rhodes, etc, and the ruins of Miletus and Ephesus. Includes Dallaway's descriptions of the Bosporus and Constantinople and a translation of Orpheus' poem about "the Argonautic train". References from works by Peyssonnel, D'Ohsson and William Eton have been used. The translator, Bergstedt, was a Swedish diplomat who travelled extensively to Egypt, Constantinople and Greece between 1794 and 1797. The first part contains mainly his own travel account.
