. The game consists of twelve books with four cards each. Size: 6.2 x 10.6 cm. An extra card with information about the Missionary Union and a folded sheet with instructions about the game (reinforced at folds). Each card indicates the name among whom the mission started, the location, the year and the name of the Pioneer missionary. Including four from Burma, four from India, one from Siam, one from Macao, one from Japan and one from Congo. With text in English and on the back of the card is "The Lord's Prayer" printed in Burmese characters. Some staining to thecards. "The American Baptist Missionary Union was first founded in 1814. Missionary work started among the Burmese in Rangoon and gradually extended to other tribes and nations. At this time (1885) there were fourteen stations in Burma: six in Assam, twelve among the Telugus, five among the Chinese, and four in Japan", according to the introduction. Comprises: 1. Burmese, Rangoon, Adoniram Judson 1814. 2. Karens, Tavoy, Geo D. Boardman 1828. 3. Shans, Toungoo, Moses H. Bixy 1861. 4. Ka-Chins, Bhamo (Burma), W.H, Roberts 1877. 5. The game is complete and housed in a specially made cloth box. Some staining but a very good copy of this fascinating game, which must be extremely rare to find complete.

. Lithographed board game (48 x 48 cm). Hand-coloured and printed in green and black on four cardboard panels pasted on green cloth, with Bordeaux red mauve patterned paper on reverse, slightly rubbed. Housed in the original mauve patterned paper covered box (small loss of label). Printed rules inside the lid. Some staining to front cover and the lower cover has been nicely restored. The game offers various routes via balloon, railway, overland or sea voyage, along a grid to the exotic and mysterious city of Peking in the centre. The design of the grid strikingly resembles Chinese city maps of the period. Ornamented with beautiful hand-coloured vignettes in the corners. A well-preserved game published just after the Second Opium War.

. A river crossing puzzle comprising coloured woodcut paper figures depicting a farmer, a boat, a wolf, a goat and a cabbage (complete). Housed in the original illustrated paper envelope (some staining). A printed instruction in Swedish is included. This kind of game dates back to the 9th century and has been found in the folklore of ethnic groups from different parts of the world. A charming puzzle, well-preserved.

Important work of the gold discoveries in Matabeleland and Mashionaland (Zimbabwe). Baines led an expedition in the 1860s to secure licences for a gold-mining company from King Lobengula. Bertrand was a Swiss geographer and photographer who made many ethnographical trips around the world. This account is about a journey to the Barotseland and the Zambezi basin, today located in western Zambia. Bertand's account based on his diary describes the different places he visited, its people, and hunting experiences of buffalo, wildebeest and lion.
