Paris, 1771; 4to; viii, [iv], 220 pp. with 10 engraved plates [3 folding], and 8 maps [7 folding]; title printed in red and black with a fine engraved vignette, two further fine copper-egraved vignettes; AN UNCUT COPY IN THE ORIGINAL PUBLISHER'S MOTTLED BLUE PAPER-COVERED BOARDS with a contemporary hand-written paper label on the spine; edges worn and rubbed, short marginal split to rear hinge at head of spine, very slight loss at base of spine, surface of boards expertly restored, very small damp-stain in extreme top margins of c.30 pages, minute worm-holes in inner margins of c. 12 pages and to last 20 pages, affecting a few letters. First edition. Internally a clean fresh copy overall, in the original boards. The famous plates are engraved after Eisen. This copy is complete with the sixth leaf of the prelims, printed on one side only ("Avis au Relieur" with list of maps and plates giving relevant pages).
